Ben, aka Gentle Ben, was named by the folks at the shelter and we can certainly understand why. They worked very hard to save this kind soul and we are grateful to have him in our program. He is maybe 1½ years old, a black bi boy with prick ears. Ben is shy and submissive, affectionate, and just enjoyable to have around. He is also very good-looking, although it is so hard to get a good picture of black dogs.
Ben is housebroken, quiet in the crate, plays well with all the foster dogs, and is just fine with the cats. He is pretty much food-motivated, so training him should not be difficult; he is eager to please anyway.
Initially, Ben is pretty shy, but in his foster home he is blossoming. He gives hugs and kisses freely and will cuddle with his foster mom any time she wants. He rides well in a car and enjoys running and playing with the other dogs but is pretty calm when he comes back into the house. We think Ben will do well in a quieter home, but still an active one.
Ben has such a big heart and lots of love to give. He has not been exposed to small children at this point in time, so we can't recommend him for a home that has young kids. We will try to get him tested with young children soon. He would also do well with a canine companion, but it certainly isn't necessary.
